DUSU elections: DU launches portal to report defacement on campus, in city
India, Aug. 23 -- Before the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections on September 18, if you find any defacement on campus or in the city, then must know that there is a dedicated portal to report it. This year, DU has launched an online website (www.forms.du.ac.in/mac/view.php?id=193658) that will allow anyone to report election campaign-related defacement.
The move is aimed at making the elections more "civilised" and reducing inconvenience caused by posters and other campaign material, says DU chief election officer Raj Kishore Sharma, adding, "Anyone who is not even related to the elections can report defacement. The names of those reporting will be kept completely anonymous."
Users can submit a summary of the violation, names of students allegedly involved and geo-tagged photos or videos. Complaints will be investigated before action is taken.
Students have welcomed the move. Ramjas College student Digvijay Shankar says, "I know a helpline was introduced to report such defacement, but it isn't easy to follow through. Now, candidates will think twice before defacing public spaces."...
