India, June 6 -- The death of 43-year-old Debosmita Paul, assistant professor at Delhi University's Shivaji College, has left students and colleagues in shock. She was found dead with severe head injury on Thursday afternoon at her apartment in Vasundhara Enclave in East Delhi where she was living alone. Police are currently investigating the circumstances and have registered a murder case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the New Ashok Nagar Police Station. Shivaji College principal Virender Bhardwaj shares, "We are all left in shock, especially with what the incident reports are suggesting. She had joined Shivaji College two and a half years back in the English department." He added, "Never in our college had I ever seen her being confrontational with any staff, teacher, or students. She was a very sensitive and positive person and always mingled well with the students." Grief-stricken students also fondly remembered her. Akshara Verma, a final year BA (Hons) English student, says, "I studied under her for several courses. She never appeared distressed though was usually reserved. After hearing the news, I can't stop thinking about the picture I had taken with her in April." Anshaj Madaan, BCom (Hons) student, shares, "Every interaction with her was a learning experience. She was gentle and encouraging, and I never saw her raise her voice at anyone. It is a sad day for the Shivaji College family and we are grieving." Colleagues said she was actively involved in academic and literary activities, and the college is planning a tribute to honour her memory....
