India, Sept. 6 -- For years, home design was dominated by restraint and quiet luxury. Neutrals, cream tones, and "sad beige" offered a quiet, safe sanctuary. But as homes morphed into offices, gathering hubs, and personal backdrops, a major shift occurred. Today, homeowners are ditching perfection for "joycore" or "dopamine decor", a movement centered on vibrant colours, playful forms, and unapologetic self-expression. Pinterest design trends show searches for "dopamine decor" surged by 280%, while search analytics tracker Exploding Topics reports a 280%+ rise in global interest year-over-year. Joycore is about decorating with instinct rather than instruction. "Kirti Madan, creative and art director, Mahima Group, explains, "Colour and pattern play an important role, but the deeper idea is personal expression. It can be maximalist or restrained, as long as it evokes delight." While often associated with high-energy hues like tangerine, fuchsia, electric blue, and leaf green, the palette can also be softened by peach, butter yellow, lilac, and mint green.
