Don't have kids, have dogs: Shefali Shah advises young women
India, May 17 -- Actor Shefali Shah has shared her unfiltered views on marriage, relationships, and the idea of having children. In a recent podcast with YouTuber-actor Lilly Singh, the 52-year-old urged young women not to marry at an early age.
She said, "Don't do it when you are a child, for God's sake... You've got to meet people and get to know them before you make that ultimate choice. I keep saying this: if you don't believe in the institution of marriage, trust me, it's a lot of work, please don't do it. It's not fair to step back. Be old enough to figure that out."
The actor emphasised that marriage is a serious commitment and should only be considered when a person is emotionally mature and certain about their expectations from life and relationships.
During the conversation, when host Lilly revealed that she is 37 and still unmarried, Shefali responded, "Can I say something? I am going to get so badly trolled. Don't have children, have dogs." She further added that dogs are the only form of "unconditional love" in a human being's life.
