India, Aug. 24 -- A ctor Dia Mirza Rekhi has addressed the criticism she and her five-year-old son, Avyaan Azaad Rekhi, faced over an incident involving a home delivery. She has now clarified that no disrespect towards the vendor was intended. Back in June, Dia had shared a story on actor Soha Ali Khan's podcast about how Avyaan had once refused to accept coconut water delivered in a plastic bag and asked the delivery worker to take it back. Some social media users had then accused Dia of raising her son with a sense of entitlement and describing his interaction with the worker as elitist. In a recent interview with Zoom, Dia said, "Everybody made it about the nariyal wala... It was all about the optics that were created around the story, which were about how it was elitist and disrespectful. That was not the approach of the story, nor was it the reality." She added, "Everybody who knows me knows how I treat people. I don't have to justify how I treat human beings. The child saw a coconut in a plastic bag, and recognised that it was something we don't propagate. He had the awareness to say, 'Please yeh wapas le jao hamare ghar mein. It's not allowed.'
