Delhicycles into Sunday with Vikrant Massey
India, June 8 -- Hundreds of fitness enthusiasts gathered as early as 5am on Sunday at Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Stadium and across adjoining stretches in the capital for the 77th edition of the Fit India Movement's 'Sundays on Cycle' initiative, held to mark World Bicycle Day. The early-morning event transformed usually quiet roads into a steady flow of cyclists, with participants of all ages coming together for a community ride aimed at promoting fitness and active living.
Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey joined the cycling group, riding through Delhi's empty morning roads alongside participants. He said the experience brought back personal memories of cycling in childhood and praised the turnout. World Championship silver medallist boxer Nupur Sheoran also participated, stressing the need to make fitness a lifestyle choice beyond professional sport. She was seen interacting with participants and encouraging consistent physical activity. A Delhi University student joined the ride despite having an exam on Monday. "I was in two minds. But I love cycling in the community and just did not want to miss out on this vibe," says Ananya Sharma.
The ride saw cyclists traverse designated routes around JLN Stadium and nearby arterial roads under the 'Sundays on Cycle' campaign, part of the Fit India Movement's nationwide initiative encouraging regular physical activity....
