Delhi colony life vs Gurugram convenience: Post sparks discussion
India, June 28 -- A Reddit post by a man who recently moved from Delhi to Gurugram has struck a chord online, after he wrote about how shifting just 30 to 40km changed his everyday life. While Gurugram offers convenience and doorstep deliveries, he said he misses the warmth and familiarity of Delhi's colony culture.
In a post titled "It's funny how a change of just 30 to 40 km can completely change the way you live", the man recalled how life in Delhi meant stepping out often, whether for groceries, medicines, midnight snacks or post-dinner walks.
"On the way, you'd bump into someone you knew. Neighbours knew each other, aunties knew everyone's business, uncles had their evening adda, and kids played until someone shouted from the balcony. The colony genuinely felt like one big family," he wrote.
The man said that since moving to Gurugram over two months ago, everything comes to his doorstep. "Groceries? Blinkit. Medicines? 10 minutes. Food? 20 minutes. I can literally go days without stepping outside unless I have office," he shared.
Despite living in a good society, he wrote that he still does not know who lives next door. "We all enter the lift, smile awkwardly, look at our phones, and leave. Everyone has their own routine, their own bubble."
The post drew several reactions from users who related to the feeling.
"This feels too real," wrote one user, while another said they welcomed the distance as "a blessing for an introvert".
Others said the post captured the difference between Delhi's neighbourhood culture and Gurugram's high-rise convenience. htc...
