India, Oct. 28 -- Stuck in traffic near the Chirag Dilli bottleneck? Take a moment to look at the flyover pillars where vibrant sketches of tigers, lions, and peacocks are transforming the grime-covered underbelly into a colourful canvas, adding a touch of art to an otherwise dreary urban space. Among the 12 artists putting the final touches to the murals is 38-year-old Sandeep Nayak from Jharkhand. "The thought behind our art is to be more responsible towards Mother Nature, and to promote Nature and animal conservation," he tells us. Nayak says he paid special attention to the tiger's eyes to convey strength. "I was very focused on making sure that the art is expressive," he says, adding that choosing the right material was important to extend the artwork's life. The project also holds personal significance for Nayak, who hails from Hendegi, a village in Jharkhand close to Nature and wildlife. "So for me to work on the same theme, that too in the Capital of our country, felt very close to home, and felt like I was meant to do this," he adds. He hopes the murals offer commuters a moment of peace amid their busy routines. "If they pass by and feel a sense of calm, then my work is done."...
