Campus ties and tee-time rivalries find new course in the Capital
India, Nov. 6 -- For two days, the golf course at ITC Classic became a meeting ground for friendly rivalries, old campus memories and competitive spirit as alumni from five Indian Institutes of Management gathered for the 20th IIM Masters on October 29 and 30.
The 106-member contingent comprised IIMA Kings (37 golfers), IIML Nawabs (22), Namma IIMBirdies (24), IIMC Victoria (15) and IIMK Gods Own Golfers (8). This edition's team format added to the competition, making for a closely fought contest.
IIMA Kings set the pace on day one, claiming nine of the 12 points on offer. The other teams pushed to close the gap on day two, with Namma IIMBirdies topping the day's tally with eight points, followed by IIMA Kings with seven and IIMK Gods Own Golfers with six. The opening lead proved decisive as IIMA Kings retained the trophy. Namma IIMBirdies and IIMK Gods Own Golfers shared thesecond place.
There were individual moments to celebrate, too. Vineet Mohan of Namma IIMBirdies, who travelled from Dubai, won Best Golfer with a round of five over par, while Atul Pande of IIMA Kings won Best Net Score.
Beyond the scores and trophies, the tournament gave alumni a chance to step away from boardrooms and professional designations. Familiar faces, friendly banter and memories of campus life made the greens a space to reconnect over golf, with camaraderie sharing the spotlight with competition.
Brandon de Souza, Director, Melange Management, says, "Twenty years on, the tournament has become more than just golf. It is a celebration of the shared legacy and camaraderie that defines the IIM community. We are proud to have managed the entire end-to-end execution of this journey, and we look forward to making it even bigger in the years ahead." htc...
