Bella Hadid wears a see-through dress to Cannes featuring 22,160 hours of embroidery work done by 130 artisans
India, May 23 -- American model Bella Hadid wore a striking cream-coloured lace dress at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival. The Schiaparelli piece, which took 130 experts over 22,000 hours to make by hand, was a tribute to English-French actor-singer Jane Birkin's famous dress from 1969. It intentionally echoed Birkin's lace dress worn backwards, with a dramatically low neckline. Hadid's dress featured an intricate embroidery of anchor threads and chords, creating a tromp l'oeil effect, cinched by a dangling black crystal ornament.
Look for a cream or off-white, thick lace or tight crochet maxi dress. To give it a polished, rather than a casual feel, wear a nude bodysuit underneath. The best part of Hadid's outfit is the contrast of the white lace with the black details. To recreate, add a vintage black pin where the neckline dips low, pair it with a black velvet choker, or sleek black high heels. For makeup, opt for a clean, glowing, sun-kissed face with neutral lips.
Wear your hair in a tight, sleek bun or topknot to keep it neat and highlight the details of the dress. You can skip a big necklace to keep the look clean and opt for diamond earrings and a statement ring instead....
