Bakery issues apology after worm found in food; social media says'It's done, bro'
India, Aug. 26 -- After food safety and hygiene in restaurants and eateries across the nation have come under the scanner, Gurugram-based bakery PAUL, which has 12 outlets across India, landed in controversy over a live worm found in a Caesar salad bowl.
As the Gurugram incident went viral on social media, Vinod Tilekar posted on X: "This Paul bakery products are pathetic. Couple of months back I took parcel for home from Paul bakery in phoenix mall viman nagar Pune. And found worm in it (sic)."
PAUL India released a statement on Instagram on August 25, saying that the Gurugram incident "does not reflect the standards we strive to uphold" and that the chain takes food safety, hygiene and quality standards "extremely seriously". The chain added it maintains rigorous food safety and compliance standards and is committed to ensuring a safe experience for customers. However, the statement only drew more criticism online.
A user wrote, "This is not really an apology," while another said, "Paul, it's done bro." Another said that the brand should focus on improving hygiene and safety rather than its social media response which is "not a real apology". htc...
