marriage proposal by an Indian Army officer moments after receiving his wings has sparked a debate online over military decorum and personal expression.
The moment unfolded on June 2 at the Combat Army Aviation Training School near Nashik, Maharashtra, when Captain Bharat Bhardwaj went down on one knee to propose to his partner Arushi on the tarmac after the passing-out parade. Videos of the proposal, filmed with an Army helicopter in the background, quickly went viral. Explaining the gesture, Bhardwaj said he chose the occasion because it marked a major milestone in both his professional and personal life: "I don't think there is any better day than this to propose marriage to her." While many social media users and veterans hailed the proposal as a heartfelt celebration, others questioned whether an official military ceremony was the appropriate setting for a personal milestone.
