India, March 20 -- Rain, music and a roaring crowd took over Mehak'26, the fest of Delhi University's Sri Aurobindo College on Wednesday. The evening turned cinematic as singer Akhil took the stage. But the rain, that could have acted as a dampener only added to the mood for the young. The musician serenaded the crowd with his romantic ballads, including Khaab, Teri Kami, and Duniyaa, keeping the youngsters hooked even as the rain picked up. As the crowd sang Khaab word for word, Akhsat Bharat, a final-year student of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, told us, "I proposed to my crush on Valentine's Day singing Khaab, and it worked! Today we came together to the concert, and that is the song he started with. I kept trying to get his attention to tell this story, but couldn't, so I DMed him on Instagram." Soon enough, in a spontaneous moment, a student tossed a hat onto the stage for the singer to shield himself from the drizzle. Akhil picked it up and wore it, drawing loud cheers and whistles. "As we got to the college, it started raining, and I thought he would just cancel the show. But we were glad that did not happen. Rather, the rain made it even better. He performed in a student's hat, which made it feel like he was our college senior," said Riya, a first-year student of the college. The downpour eventually led the organisers to cut the gig short. But Akhil said onstage, "Abhi toh merko ek ghanta aur perform karne ka mann tha par aapke college waale keh rahe hain sirf paanch minute aur hain. But paanch minute hi sahi, let's continue to party!"...
