India, July 15 -- Ahmed Khan is currently basking in the success of his directorial Welcome to the Jungle, which he credits to being an entertainer catering to "the age group of 5 to 95". "We just kept one thing in mind: we will not delve into vulgarity or make demeaning jokes. And it worked for us," he shares. Khan brought actors Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon together after three decades. Their last film was Mohra (1994). Akshay and Raveena reportedly had a fallout after a breakup, and were among the most talked-about celebrity couples back in the '90s. Speaking about the on-screen pairing, Khan says, "Akshay was always associated with the film, and for the strong village woman character, I had Raveena in mind. So, I told Raveena that you and Akshay haven't done a film together in years. They thought ki ab sab itna aage badh chuke hain ki kabhi na kabhi to kuch karna hi tha saath mein... Whatever they did, though, was in the film's context; it's the audience who found their own take on it." For the filmmaker, the task wasalso to justify the 34-member cast, which he did by ensuring there was "no hierarchy". He explains, "Nobody had any individual screentime - every scene had almost all of them reacting to the same situation. Also, I kept everybody in one uniform, so there was no hierarchy." This film is the third instalment of the Welcome series, with the first two directed by Anees Bazmee. And Khan chose to deviate from Bazmee's style for his own. "Anees bhai's flavour of humour is very different. He is a writer; I am not. His humour starts from his pen; mine comes on the camera straightaway. Welcome was always known for that niche of Dubai, black suits, and glamour. I completely changed the palette for a sepia tone, which is quite different from the usual comedy setting, which is usually loud and colourful. I made a very serious-looking comedy film. The action director in me also crept up a little in that," he laughs....
