After military service, Nam Joo Hyuk makes TV comeback

outh Korean actor Nam Joo Hyuk is set to make his television comeback after completing his mandatory military service with Netflix's upcoming supernatural period drama The East Palace. Marking his first project since the Disney+ series Vigilante, the drama has already emerged as one of the most anticipated K-dramas of 2026.
The eight-episode fantasy mystery unfolds within a royal court plagued by a sinister curse and a series of unexplained incidents. As a dark force begins terrorising the Crown Prince's residence, known as the East Palace, the King secretly recruits a pair of gifted investigators to uncover the truth behind the haunting.
Nam stars as Gu Cheon, a warrior with the rare ability to enter the spirit realm and battle rogue supernatural entities. The role marks a significant return for the actor, who has been away from television screens for nearly three years.
The series is directed by Choi Jung Kyu, known for The Devil Judge and Children of Nobody, and written by Kwon So Ra and Seo Jae Won, the duo behind acclaimed supernatural dramas Bulgasal: Immortal Souls and The Guest.
