hat happens when Delhi swaps its usual party scene for a touch of Venetian flair? Masks go on, glasses clink, and for one evening, the city feels like a dreamy piazza. The Masquerade Ball at the Italian Embassy on Friday did just that, bringing together fashion, food and a charitable cause in support of the Delhi Commonwealth Women's Association (DCWA). Italian Ambassador Antonio Bartoli set the tone for the evening, saying, "It is a joy to enjoy food and Italian wine, even more so when it helps the most vulnerable."
Calling Venice, the theme of the night, "not just a city, but a symbol. a category of spirit," Bartoli also highlighted the deep cultural ties between India and Italy. Referencing Invisible Cities and Marco Polo's travels, he traced connections from historic trade routes to travellers like Niccolo de' Conti.
The evening closed on a proud note, with Bartoli announcing India's return to the Venice Biennale this year, calling it a global stage that feels incomplete without India....
