India, Sept. 17 -- What started as an Instagram trend for '80s-style pictures has reportedly brought a45-year-old jewellery theft case back into the spotlight in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. A woman allegedly linked to the theft was recognised by the shop owner after she posted an AI-generated retro avatar of herself. The woman had allegedly stolen a gold necklace from the shop back in time and remained untraced. Decades later, she reportedly joined the viral AI trend, and the shop owner recognised her in the retro avatar. Reports say she had changed her name and lived under a new identity after the theft. The shop owner approached the police, who looked into her identity and the old complaint. During questioning, she reportedly admitted to the theft. X user @ManiYogini shared the story, writing, "Time really does have a strange way of catching up with you. Especially when you put your own face on the internet...
