India, May 23 -- Actor Paramvir Singh Cheema is enjoying the success of surprise hit series Sapne Vs Everyone Season 2 and Punjabi debut Pitt Siyapa. These have added to his hit streak that began with Tere Ishk Mein (2025) and Border 2. "I was sceptical before Border 2, wondering if I would get lost in the entire cast or if people would stop looking at me as a hero... But with Sapne Vs Everyone, people said 'Param ka show hit hua' or 'Ambrish (Verma, actor-director) ka show hit hua', and that hit differently," he gushes. While the audience sees him as the 'good guy' on screen, the 31-year-old points to the rise of hypermasculine, alpha heroes after films such as Dhurandhar and Animal (2023): "I was shocked to see that logon ko bas jo maar-dhaad karne wala ho, jo baat baat pe gun nikaal le, jo cigarette peeta ho, wahi hero chahiye. Tabhi log pasand karenge," he says, adding, "Very few 'true to nature, good guy' parts are being written now. I prefer doing those parts, but seeing the trend, even I want to try an alpha-male role and see where I land." This pressure, he says, comes from how the youth is positioned now. Tere Ishk Mein, too, featured such a character, portrayed by Dhanush, which was later criticised for glorifying toxic characters. "When I read the script, I understood that they are targeting obsession and what alpha men portray. But when I had a word with (director) Aanand L Rai sir, he said that's why my character was important, as in the end, a girl would want a guy like my character. He said I was the audience's view, and it was necessary to have both these portrayals because today, it's up to the audience who they want to choose. Thankfully, that landed nicely," he says....
