India, Sept. 27 -- Ajayveer Singh, who allegedly posed as Jay Singh Rathore on the social media platform X and allegedly ran a fraudulent fundraiser campaign, has now been arrested and sent to judicial custody. The development was announced through a post on the official X account of the Police Commissionerate, Agra. The post has since gone viral, garnering over 2 million views and sparking a meme fest among social media users. In the post, the Agra police department said: "The accused Ajayveer Singh alias Jai Singh Rathore, who prepared fake documents related to the treatment of his 12-year-old sister and, by toying with people's emotions through posts on X, improperly obtained funds (Crowd Funding) was today produced before the Hon'ble Court by Bah Police Station. The Hon'ble Court has sent the accused to judicial custody in jail." It added, "Note: Ajayveer has no real sister. He has 3 brothers." A man posing as 16-year-old Rathore claimed on social media that he needed urgent funds for his sister's eye surgery, receiving over Rs.1.5 lakh from people. But doubts arose over the documents he shared, after which he admitted fabricating the story about his sister but claimed he needed the money for his father. Meanwhile, the eye centre whose letterhead was used confirmed it had no record of such a patient.
