India, July 26 -- D espite calling Mumbai home for nearly 15 years, actor Deepika Singh still navigates Delhi without missing a beat. Born and brought up in the Capital, she knows its roads so well that on a recent visit to meet her family, she found herself correcting her car's GPS in real time. "I know the roads here better than Google!" she laughs. Deepika studied at an Air Force school in Paharganj long before the world knew her as Sandhya from the TV show Diya Aur Baati Hum. Her journey, from a bank employee to a ramp model and eventually a television actor, has been anything but conventional. Looking back at her modelling days, the 37-year-old recalls, "They were one contestant short, and the money being offered was good. I was very adventurous and courageous," adding, "Delhi ne mujhe opportunities bahut di hain." Not only that, the city equally shaped her resilience. "Delhi has made me a very strong person because of the ups and downs I faced and the type of conditioning I have gotten here," she says, recalling how travelling alone for tuition classes taught her "self-defence training". If there's one thing she misses about Delhi while living in Mumbai, it's the city's food and shopping. Dilli Haat and Sarojini Nagar remain non-negotiable stops whenever she's in town, while her culinary map still stretches from Roshan Di Kulfi in Karol Bagh to Sitaram's famous chole bhature in her own neighbourhood of Paharganj. "Dilli mein raat ke 3-4 baje bhi laziz khaana milta hai," she shares. Emphasising on the city's spirit, the actor says, "Delhi girls are the strongest, sabko collar pakadna aata hai. In Mumbai, everyone is running with the speed of the local, but Delhi feels very homely."...
