'I didn't know about Badshah's marriage'
India, Aug. 22 -- For singer Aastha Gill, the news of her long-time collaborator and rapper Badshah's marriage came as much of a surprise as it did for his fans. The singer, who recently returned with her new track Fursat after an eight-month hiatus, reveals that she learned about the rapper's wedding only through social media.
"I did not know about it. I got to know about it through the internet," Aastha says, adding that she hasn't spoken to Badshah in a long time. "It's his personal life, and I never intruded in it," she adds. However, she jokingly calls out Badshah for not keeping her in the know. "I will fight with him," the singer quips.
The duo have collaborated together on several hit tracks over the years, including Proper Patola (2018), DJ Waley Babu (2018), Heartless (2018) and Paani Paani (2021). Their professional equation also played a role when Aastha decided to take a break and experiment with her own music.
Recalling the conversation she had with Badshah before her hiatus, Aastha says he was curious about her plans. "When I told him about all of this, he started asking me for details like, 'How are you planning this? What are you doing?' He told me to explain my songs and meet him," she adds.
However, after taking the time to explore her own musical direction, Aastha says she now has greater clarity about what she wants. This time, she wanted to make decisions independently, even if they came with the possibility of failure. "I told him, 'This time I want to surprise you'. Even if it was a mistake, I wanted it to be my mistake. I really wanted to surprise him and make him proud of the decisions that I have taken for myself," she says....
