Mohali, Sept. 16 -- A Mohali court on Tuesday has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of youth in a case involving the seizure of 5 lakh Tramadol tablets, in Zirakpur, in November 2025. Additional sessions judge Navdeep Kaur Gill dismissed the plea of Sumit Singh, a resident of Ganganagar, Rajasthan, noting discrepancies in documents submitted to establish his age and the allegations linking him to the trafficking of the drug tablets. The NCB intercepted truck number UP-11-AT-1031 in Zirakpur on November 19, 2025 and recovered 4,95,800 Tramadol tablets.The NCB arrested several people during the investigation, co-accused Sahil alias Tajinder Singh, allegedly told the investigators that Sumit Singh and another accused, Sahib Singh, were involved in the trafficking . He allegedly said he had accompanied the accused Sumit to deliver Tramadol tablets to Suraj Bhatia around 10 to 12 days before the seizure. The NCB further alleged that the seized consignment was meant to be stored in a godown operated by Sumit Singh and Sahib Singh. Sumit's counsel argued that he was born on October 2, 2009, submitted that police had not recovered any narcotic substance from Sumit, his residence or vehicle and that he was not named in the FIR. The court noted that Singh had not produced a birth certificate, matriculation certificate, school-leaving certificate or other document issued by a competent authority to establish his age. The court also noted that the petition had been filed through a person claiming to be Sumit's brother-in-law and guardian, but the record did not establish his status as a guardian under the Juvenile Justice Act. htc...
