Jalandhar, Sept. 13 -- A youth, who was arrested in an illegal arms case, was injured in police firing after he tried to escape from custody in Jalandhar on Saturday. Commissioner of police Satinder Singh said accused Sukhjinder Singh was nabbed with two illegal pistols on September 10. On Saturday, police took him to Jamsher area for another weapon's recovery. "But upon reaching there, he pushed the cop and took out a concealed pistol and opened fire at an ASI," Satinder said. The team retaliated in self-defence, during which one bullet hit him in the leg.
