Western Command gets new GOC-in-C
Panchkula, April 2 -- Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh on Wednesday took charge as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Western Command. He succeeds Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, who retired on March 31.
An officer of the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces), Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh was commissioned into the 4th Battalion in December 1987. He is an alumnus of the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, and Lucknow University. With a career spanning nearly four decades, he holds a wide range of command and staff appointments. His operational experience includes participation in Operation Pawan, as well as multiple tenures in counter-insurgency operations along the LoC and the International Boundary.
