Chandigarh, June 20 -- Equitable distribution of welfare benefits without any discrimination has been the defining feature of Narendra Modi-led central government, Union minister Jitendra Singh said on Friday. After reviewing the modernisation work at Chandigarh railway station as part of the central government's outreach programme themed "12 years of trust, development and public welfare", the Union minister of state (independent charge) for science & technology and earth sciences said transparency, accountability and technology-driven governance have transformed the delivery of public services over the past 12 years. Addressing a press conference, the minister highlighted the impact of welfare initiatives related to housing, sanitation, healthcare, financial inclusion, food security, clean cooking fuel and social security, stating that these schemes have improved the quality of life for millions of families. Referring to India's socio-economic progress, Singh said nearly 25 crore people have moved out of multidimensional poverty during this period, reflecting the "success of sustained welfare interventions and inclusive growth policies". He also highlighted improved access to digital platforms, financial services and basic amenities. Senior BJP leaders, workers and others were present. He added that development benefits have reached sections of society that remained underserved for decades.
