Amritsar, Feb. 26 -- Akali Dal Waris Punjab De began the Khalsa Vahir (religious procession) after paying obeisance at Akal Takht, stating that it is a resumption of the procession initiated by the jailed party leader and Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh. Amritpal has been lodged in Dibrugarh jail in Assam under the National Security Act (NSA) since his arrest in 2023. SAD (Punar Surjeet) MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali also joined the procession. The procession was led by Amritpal's father, Tarsem Singh and Faridkot MP Sarabjit Singh Khalsa was also present. Addressing the media, Tarsem said that only by following the path shown by the Guru can Punjab's youth and the state be saved. "Today, Punjab's youth are falling victim to drugs, unemployment, and forced migration. In such circumstances, the purpose of the Khalsa Vahir is to reconnect young people with Gurbani, Guru's principles, and the Khalsa way of life," he said.
