Karnal, June 18 -- Weeks after a Delhi criminal under treatment at a hospital fled from police custody, the Karnal police on Wednesday stated that the accused was nabbed from the Punjab border in Ambala. The accused, identified as Gurjit Singh, a resident of Hastsal in Delhi and carrying a reward of Rs 5,000, was arrested near a toll plaza on the Ambala-Rajpura Road by the CIA-1 team. He was produced before a court and sent to one-day police remand. A police spokesperson said that on the night of May 2, the accused committed an armed robbery at a petrol pump located near the National Highway in the Taroari police station. Following the incident, police action led to his arrest after an encounter, and he was admitted to the civil hospital.
