Mohali, July 12 -- A resident of Shampur village has been booked for wrongfully restraining and assaulting a man over a dispute between their families, Sohana police said on Saturday. Complainant Gurmeet Singh, who too resides in the same village, said the assault took place around 5.45 pm on Thursday while he was driving from Mohali to his farmhouse. He alleged that the accused, Gurdeep Singh, blocked his car on the way to his farmhouse with his motorcycle. The complainant alleged that the accused hurled abuses at him, forced him out of the vehicle and assaulted him while issuing death threats. Gurmeet Singh stated that two villagers intervened to save him. In his complaint, he alleged that the two families had an ongoing dispute and a criminal case had been registered in August 2024 against the accused's brother, Jagtar Singh, and his wife Angrej Kaur. Police officials said an FIR has been registered against Gurdeep Singh, alias Kuldeep, under Sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 127 (wrongful confinement) and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita....
