Chandigarh, May 26 -- Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Rajya Sabha member Raj Mohinder Singh Majitha joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) with his supporters on Monday. Chief minister Bhagwant Mann welcomed Majitha, who is also the patron of the Chief Khalsa Diwan, into the party fold, according to a party release. The two-time former MP's switch to the ruling party is being seen as a setback for the opposition Shiromani Akali Dal. Chief Khalsa Diwan member Sukhdip Singh Majitha and another supporter, Heminder Singh Majitha, also joined the AAP with him. Taking to X to announce their joining, Mann said that eminent personalities from Punjab's religious, social, and political spheres joined the AAP family after being impressed by the party's pro-people policies.
