Chandigarh, Feb. 28 -- The UT education department issued revised directions mandating all private unaided recognised schools to publish complete, class-wise textbook and uniform lists within three days, aiming to ensure transparency and prevent commercialisation and inconvenience to parents. The circular came after the department received complaints from parents about delays in publishing prescribed lists and alleged pressure to purchase books and uniforms from specific vendors. The department also barred schools from nominating specific vendors or compelling parents to purchase items within school premises, reinforcing parents' freedom to buy from any seller.
