Usha Priyadarshini appointed Haryana women's panel chief
Chandigarh, June 13 -- Haryana government has appointed Usha Priyadarshini as the chairperson of the Haryana State Commission for Women, filling the vacancy created after the resignation of former chairperson Renu Bhatia.
According to the orders issued by Shekhar Vidyarthi, commissioner and secretary (women and child development), Meena Parmar has been appointed as vice chairperson, while Bharti Saini; Sunita Lohchab; Suman Sehzadwala; Dr Anukampa Garg and Sunita Chauhan will serve as members of the panel. The state government notified the appointments on Friday.
Priyadarshini, who hails from Gurugram, is currently Haryana BJP Mahila Morcha president, while Parmar is a general secretary of Mahila Morcha in Haryana. Parmar had contested assembly election unsuccessfully from Tosham as BJP nominee. Having come under criticism over her controversial remarks that sparked a statewide protest by nursing staff, Renu Bhatia had resigned on Tuesday as chairperson of the commission, bringing an end to a tenure often marked by controversies.
