Panchkula, Aug. 17 -- Pinjore police have registered a case against two employees of an immigration firm for allegedly duping a Kalka resident of Rs.22.32 lakh on the pretext of facilitating emigration of his daughter to Canada. Complainant Jarnail Singh, a resident of Manakpur Devi Lal village in Kalka, said he approached Real Gateway of Migration in Phase 1, Mohali, after its employees Kanika Sharma and Manraj Sandhu allegedly assured him that his daughter would be sent to Canada within three months. He allegedly paid Rs.22.32 lakh through online transactions on various dates. An agreement was also signed on September 19, 2024, the complainant stated. However, the promise was not fulfilled even after more than two years, the complainant alleged. He said the firm continued giving assurances and excuses before its office was eventually found locked. Police have initiated an investigation into the allegations. The FIR was registered on August 15 under Sections 316(2) (criminal breach of trust) and 318(4) (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 24 of the Emigration Act. htc...
