Mohali, Aug. 26 -- Police have booked a truck driver for allegedly stealing goods worth Rs.35 lakh from a logistics fleet. The accused, Rajesh Kumar alias Lucky, of Moga, has been booked following a formal complaint filed by fleet owner Akshay Bhardwaj. According to the complaint, Bhardwaj operates commercial transport vehicles for the logistics company Shadowfax, hauling consignments from Zirakpur to Himachal Pradesh. The driver loaded a consignment on August 14 into a truck (HR 61F 1239) and allegedly stole high-value Ajio campaign products en route after stopping the vehicle at an unauthorised location. The complainant alleged that the accused executed similar thefts between August 15 and August 16 from a second vehicle (HR 61D 2271). The courier firm discovered the missing inventory on Monday during scheduled customer deliveries. A subsequent review of CCTV footage revealed that the driver possessed the breached vehicle seal and had shifted the front-loaded cargo to the rear. When the fleet owner confronted Kumar over the phone regarding the discrepancies, the driver abandoned the truck and fled. Police have booked the driver under Sections 303(2) (theft) and 316(2) (criminal breach of trust) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and efforts are being made to arrest the accused....
