AMRITSAR, March 8 -- Tension gripped Sathiala village on Saturday morning after torn pages of Guru Granth Sahib were found scattered outside Gurdwara Nauvi Patshahi Dhereyana Sahib, associated with Guru Tegh Bahadur. The incident was noticed around 7am by the gurdwara's head granthi, sparking outrage among residents. Gurdwara officials, along with village leaders, informed the police and demanded strict action. Police officials arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. CCTV footage from the gurdwara was examined but reportedly did not provide clear evidence. Based on the granthi's statement, a first information report (FIR) was registered under Section 299 (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and multiple police teams are working to identify the culprits. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) condemned the desecration.
