Tewari flags 'no progress' as property issues remain unresolved
Chandigarh, Aug. 7 -- The Chandigarh administration has informed the Centre that key property-related issues, including share-wise sale of property, ownership rights in rehabilitation colonies and extension of Lal Dora, remain pending or have been rejected in line with court rulings and planning norms. Responding to issues raised by MP Manish Tewari in the Lok Sabha, the UT said the Supreme Court's 2023 judgment bars share-wise property transfers in heritage sectors.
A proposal to grant ownership rights to residents of rehabilitation colonies has been sent to the ministry of home affairs. However, no proposal to extend Lal Dora to 22 villages is under consideration.
"It is disappointing that despite raising these issues, except for incremental progress on the matter of providing ownership rights to people living in relief and rehabilitation colonies, there has been no forward movement on any issue," said Tewari.htc...
