Temperature drops below 40degC for 1st time in a week
Chandigarh, May 23 -- After staying above 40degC for the past six days, the maximum temperature of the city dropped below 40degC due to dust storms in the morning.
As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperature is likely to cross 40degC again from Saturday.
This follows as trace rain (less than 0.1 mm) was recorded at the IMD observatory on Friday morning.
As per IMD, a western disturbance is active over the region which led to dust storms and light rain in parts of Himachal Pradesh.
Because of the impact of the WD, maximum temperature fell from 44.2degC on Thursday to 39.3degC on Friday, at normal.
Minimum temperature meanwhile rose from 25.7degC on Thursday to 26.2degC on Friday, 0.7degC above normal, being the highest in all season.
As per IMD, chances of heatwave will return from Saturday onwards, even as maximum temperature won't immediately go back to 44degC.
A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the region around May 28....
