Dehradun, May 10 -- An investigation has been launched after a software engineer was allegedly abducted by two men on a scooter near IT Park, assaulted and robbed before being thrown off a bridge into a riverbed in Dehradun, police said. The incident took place on the intervening night of May 6 and 7 when the victim, Akash Kumar, was waiting for a bike taxi near IT Park after completing his shift around 2 am. Circle officer (City) Swapnil Muyal said that on Friday, Prem Nagar police station received a complaint from Vinod Kumar, a resident of Shivaji Marg on Kanwali Road, alleging that his son Akash Kumar, a software engineer employed at a company in IT Park, had finished work late that night and was waiting near Sahastradhara Crossing around 2.15 am to return home. "During this time, two individuals riding a scooter forcibly made him sit on their vehicle and took him to the Jamunawala bridge near Hanuman Temple in the Prem Nagar area. There, they physically assaulted Akash, robbed him of his mobile phone and cash, and fled the spot after leaving him behind," Muyal said....
