Suspension of Ropar thermal plant's chief engineer revoked
Patiala, March 17 -- More than four months after suspending the chief engineer of Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Plant (GGSSTP), Ropar, Harish Kumar Sharma, over alleged irregularities in fuel cost, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) on Monday revoked his suspension. Sharma was suspended on November 1, 2025.

The association said that during the entire period of suspension, no charges were framed, no chargesheet was issued and no explanation was ever sought from Sharma. "Ultimately, the suspension was revoked unconditionally, demonstrating that the allegations lacked substance," the association said.
The suspension was revoked after the matter reached the Punjab and Haryana high court, which directed the PSPCL to constitute a committee of two directors to examine the issue. The committee, after examining the case, recommended revoking Sharma's suspension.htc...
