Dehradun, May 6 -- The state government on Tuesday constituted a sub-committee to determine the priority order for ropeway projects proposed across Uttarakhand, officials said . Reviewing the progress of ropeway projects in the state, Chief secretary Anand Bardhan ordered officials to form the committee under the principal secretary (planning). The committee will include the secretaries of tourism, housing and public works department, along with representatives of the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority. Officials said the sub-committee will also examine proposals city-wise and recommend routes based on local requirements. During the meeting, Bardhan said that for "ropeway projects being developed in specific cities, the tourism department, in coordination with the local administration, should decide which locations are to be included or excluded from the route depending on the needs of that city". He also ordered officials to strengthen the Bridge, Ropeway, Tunnel and Other Infrastructure Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (BRIDCUL) so that it can function as the regulatory authority for ropeway projects. He instructed officials to prepare a draft outlining the roles and responsibilities of the authority at the earliest. He also ordered that a ropeway project be included in the development plan for Jageshwar Dham. Reviewing the Mussoorie ropeway project, Bardhan instructed officials to resolve the issue with zpublic road access near the lower terminal of the project within three days. He also reviewed the progress of the Hemkund Sahib and Kedarnath ropeway projects and ordered a logistics dry run for the Kedarnath ropeway to identify unsafe locations so that necessary remedial work can begin immediately. He also instructed officials to expedite the construction of the Kund bridge and the new bypass road, adding that adequate parking be ensured at the lower terminal of the Kedarnath ropeway. He said the process of identifying suitable land for parking and transferring the land should be initiated simultaneously. He also asked officials to prepare a PERT (Project Evaluation and Review Technique) chart for the construction schedule of the Hemkund Sahib and Kedarnath ropeway projects.
