STF examines assets of Badrinath theft accused
Dehradun, July 28 -- The special task force (STF) probing the alleged theft of donations from the counting room at Badrinath Dham has intensified its investigation by examining the bank accounts, financial transactions and properties of the two arrested individuals, seeking to determine whether the accused amassed assets disproportionate to their known sources of income or carried out suspicious financial transactions linked to the alleged theft, officials said on Monday.
Badrinath SHO Mahadev Uniyal said, "We will be moving to the court again to seek the custody of the accused."
Both accused - suspended personal assistant Pramod Nautiyal and retired temple officer Rajendra Chauhan - are currently in judicial custody.
Police have yet to recover the allegedly stolen cash, gold and silver coins from Nautiyal. So far, only a Shaligram stone has been recovered from him. Meanwhile, the police recovered foreign currency, saffron and other materials like ghee from Chauhan's allotted accommodation at Badrinath temple.HTC...
