Bathinda, June 27 -- Punjab agriculture and farmer welfare minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian on Friday inaugurated Punjab's first bio-fertiliser quality control laboratory in Bathinda. The minister also laid the foundation stone for a seed testing lab at Kheti Bhawan, the agriculture department's district headquarters on Dabwali Road. Addressing a gathering of farmers, Khudian said, "The twin facility will provide reliable and quality agricultural inputs. The bio-fertiliser laboratory will ensure quality standards of bio-fertilisers while the seed laboratory will enable more effective scientific testing of seed quality." "In the absence of any laboratory in the state, samples had to be sent to Ghaziabad. Now, the examination work will be expedited."
