Speeding Thar kills 28-yr-old scooteristheading to work in Mohali
Mohali, March 28 -- A speeding Mahindra Thar claimed a 28-year-old scooterist's life near the petrol pump in Sector 84, police said on Friday.
The driver fled after the Thar got stuck on the road divider following the impact.
According to police, the victim, Rohit, lived in Shivalik City, Kharar, and worked for a multi-national company in Sector 82.
On March 23, he was heading to his workplace on his scooter (PB-65BF-3742) around 8.30 pm when the Thar, bearing number PB-24E-7007, struck him from behind. The high-speed impact led to head injuries and multiple fractures, killing Rohit on the spot.
Rohit's brother Gourav Sood lodged a complaint, stating that the Thar driver escaped immediately after abandoning the vehicle on the divider.
Sohana police registered a case under Sections 281 (rash driving), 106 (1) (causing death by negligence) and 324 (4) (mischief causing damage) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Sharing case details on Friday, police said the driver had been identified and will be arrested soon....
