Mohali, July 19 -- Two persons sustained serious injuries after a Thar SUV hit a motorcycle on the road leading to Sohana gurdwara late Friday night. According to eyewitnesses, the SUV, carrying four occupants, lost control after the collision and crashed into the central divider. The injured have been identified as Taranveer, 26, a Mohali resident who works at a bank, and Ranjit of Sohana, who was riding pillion. Both were critically injured and taken to a nearby hospital. According to witnesses, the Thar was travelling at high speed. The impact threw the riders onto the road, while the SUV overturned and came to rest facing the opposite direction of the road. Police reached the spot after receiving information and shifted the damaged vehicles from the road to restore traffic. They have started an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the crash. The condition of the two injured riders was reported to be serious at the time of filing this report. Attempts were made to contact police officials for details regarding the identity of the victims and the occupants of the Thar, but they were not available for comments....
