Mohali, Sept. 25 -- Several employees of the Special Cadre Teachers Union Punjab have been staging protest outside the Punjab School Education Board building in Mohali seeking implementation of service rules, pay scales and a promotion channel. However, on Wednesday with their demands remaining unheard, around 150-200 employees gathered near the overhead water tank in Sector 68, near Kumbra Chowk, to intensify their protest. Three employees climbed atop the water tank in Kumbra village as part of the demonstration, raising slogans against the state government and demanding immediate action on their long-pending issues. The protesters said they had been seeking implementation of the government's October 7, 2022 policy for the welfare of ad hoc, contractual and temporary teachers and other employees of the school education department. The teachers' union has urged the government to implement service rules and pay scales for teachers covered under its policy. In a memorandum addressed to the chief minister Bhagwant Mann, the union referred to the policy issued by the state government vide letter No. 11/07/2022-4PP3/850 dated October 7, 2022. It sought immediate implementation of service rules and pay scales for employees regularised under the policy, including pre-primary and primary educators.
