Mohali, March 28 -- A routine society committee meeting in Sector 79, Mohali, turned violent on Wednesday after a dispute escalated into an alleged assault on the general secretary of thecommittee. According to the FIR, Dilpreet Singh, the general secretary, was addressing the committee when member Gurvinder Singh entered the office and allegedly became aggressive during the discussion. Dilpreet told the police that Gurvinder interrupted him, hurled verbal abuses in front of the committee members and then attacked him. Dilpreet alleged that Gurvinder hit him on the face with a sharp object, punched him on the head and threatened to kill him. Other members intervened and pulled the two apart. Dilpreet immediately dialled 112 to report the incident. A police team reached the society office and shifted Dilpreet to the civil hospital in Phase 6. Doctors examined him and recorded four injuries. Sohana police have booked Gurvinder under Sections 126 (2) (wrongful restraint) and 115 (2)(voluntarily causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.HTC...
