ROHTAK, Sept. 9 -- A district court in Sonepat has sentenced six members of a family to life imprisonment, convicting them in a murder case of their neighbour after a quarrel in 2021. The court of the additional district and sessions judge Subhash Chandra Sirohi convicted Suresh Kumar, his wife Santro Devi, their sons Amit and Sumit, Suresh's elder brother Ramesh, and Ramesh's son Sikandar alias Shauki. They were found guilty of murder and unlawful assembly under Sections 302 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code, and of criminal conspiracy, rioting and causing hurt. The court directed that Rs.1.5 lakh from the fines be paid as compensation to the victim's legal heirs. According to the investigation, on June 2, 2021, a strong wind carried dung cakes stacked on Suresh's plot in Kalupur into victim Jagdish's house.
