six cops suspended after firing outside Charkhi Dadri police station
Karnal, Aug. 9 -- Six police personnel deployed with the quick response team (QRT) responsible for security at the court complex have been suspended following the daylight firing incident outside the City police station in Charkhi Dadri.
The action was reportedly taken by superintendent of police Logesh Kumar, who suspended all six personnel posted with the QRT at the main gate of the court complex at the time of the incident.
The firing took place barely 50 metres from the court complex, directly outside the City police station, when armed assailants opened several rounds of fire at youths travelling in a Scorpio, injuring a total of seven men. The assailants reportedly fled on foot, after the attack.
Earlier, police arrested the key accused, identified as Rohit, in the firing incident following a police encounter during a joint operation by the Special Task Force (STF), Rohtak, and Charkhi Dadri police on Friday.
A police check post was laid on the Baund-Kalanour road to intercept the vehicle used by the accused. As the police team attempted to stop the car, the accused allegedly fired at the personnel in an attempt to escape, triggering a brief exchange of fire.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Rohit has a criminal history, with six cases registered against him. The SP office had not shared the details of the suspended officials by the time of this report....
