Seven booked forillegal mining
Mohali, Oct. 3 -- Dhakoli police booked two persons and five unidentified accused for allegedly carrying out illegal mining at Peer Muchalla village and extracting sand and gravel without government permission, according to an FIR registered on Thursday.
The accused named in the FIR are Yaseen, a resident of Pinjore in Panchkula district, and Vikas Singla, a resident of Mohali, besides five unidentified persons.
According to the FIR, ASI Harnek Singh was patrolling the Peer Muchalla area with a police team when he received information that the accused were allegedly mining during night hours using four to five tippers, a JCB and a porcelain machine.
Police said the accused were allegedly extracting sand and gravel from the village area without obtaining the requisite government approval or permission.
Acting on the information, the police team raided thesite. The FIR states that when the police reached the spot around 6.35 pm, the accused allegedly fled after spotting the team.
A case was registered at Dhakoli police station under Section 303(2) of the BNS and Sections 4(1) and 21(1) of the Mines and Minerals(Development and Regulation) Act, 1957.htc...
