Sanitation workers strike over pending demands
Mohali, May 9 -- Members of the Safai Sewak Majdoor Union, Mohali, continued their strike for the third day on Friday, protesting against the Punjab government over pending demands of sanitation workers and sewer men.
Union president Ajit Singh claimed that memorandums had already been submitted to the MC commissioner, the local bodies minister and the CM , but no action had been taken so far. He alleged that the government had become "anti-employee" and had ignored the concerns of sanitation workers despite repeated appeals.
The union warned that if their demands were not addressed soon, the agitation would be intensified further. Referring to the upcoming 2027 elections, union leaders said employees would respond democratically against the government if their grievances continued to be ignored....
