BATHINDA, March 8 -- Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Badal on Saturday said he has a vision to promote the underdeveloped Bathinda district as a hub of major industrialisation. Addressing a rally at Goniana town in Bathinda district, Sukhbir said that the Akali leadership had earlier developed Bathinda as a hub of education and healthcare through the establishment of the Central University of Punjab, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Advanced Cancer Institute (ACI) and an airport. "The SAD is also credited for establishing thermal plants, setting up a network of canal irrigation systems, and road networks. No other political party was able to achieve what the SAD governments in the past could introduce in infrastructure and introduce welfare schemes," he added while appealing to the party cadre to work enthusiastically to strengthen SAD's electoral base. The SAD chief charged the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) with failing to curb organised crime activities. "The law and order situation has deteriorated to alarming levels. The government's focus is not on development; instead, it is engaged in political gimmickry," he said. HTC...
